About Samui Property Portfolio
Established in 2008, Overseas Property Portfolio (OPP), was an independent real estate agent, covering all aspects of the Koh Samui property market. Our services include Koh Samui property sales, Koh Samui land sales, Koh Samui villa sales & rentals and of course professional legal and tax advice, to enable your purchase to run efficiently and smoothly. Our office is situated in a prominet position in Samui Town Center, Bophut, where we have experienced staff covering both sales and rentals.
Investing in a foreign country can sometimes be daunting, especially if it’s your first time purchasing property overseas or in a country you haven’t previously considered. Whether you are looking to buy a Koh Samui property as a rental investment, holiday home, relocation home or for retirement, we understand the complexities and pitfalls, as well as the considerable rewards. We are therefore here to guide you through the complete process and to ensure your purchase proceeds effortlessly, efficiently and cost-effectively.
We provide personal, professional, honest and straightforward advice. Just as we work one-on-one with our buyers, we carry that philosophy through on a personal basis with our sellers. Most importantly, we take the time to listen to you and your individual requirements before making any recommendations.
OPP has extensive experience in the sourcing of overseas real estate for clients in the developed and the emerging markets across Europe and Northern Morocco. OPP identified Thailand, and in particular, Koh Samui, as a long-term business opportunity and has been established here since 2008. We know how rewarding a property investment can be, personally and financially, which is why we have dedicated ourselves to supporting all our clients in their quest for the quintessential tropical island property here in Koh Samui, Thailand’s “Boutique Island”.
In April 2020 OPP was renamed to SPP to make it clear its focus market.
About Koh Samui Properties
Do you own a property on Koh Samui or thinking of buying one? If so, it’s imperative it’s looked after in order to maintain its value. There are many aspects of your Koh Samui
Overseas Property Portfolio was founded in 2008. Since OPP opened its doors the worldwide recession hit shortly after. However during these years, Koh Samui saw a flow of savvy buyers for holiday home/investment purposes along with permanent residents. Towards the end of 2012, the Koh Samui property market picked up and has steadily been driving forward ever since. A key benefit of buying a property on Koh Samui are the strict building and zoning regulations, allowing Koh Samui to keep its charm and what attracts its buyers from around the world.
The rental market on Koh Samui is constantly buoyant and with 30-day visas on arrival for most nationalities, good internet connections and of course the sun and the beach, Koh Samui is a popular location for those looking to check on their work back home. On average, investors see a ROI between 7-12% for their Koh Samui Property.
There are many companies/websites for properties on Koh Samui, choose an agent very carefully, visit their office and get a feel for them and check they know the market. Ask them how long they’ve lived on Koh Samui and how long their business has been established. If you’re initially surfing the web, ask these questions over email, do your homework and make appointments to visit properties and try not to leave it until 2 or 3 days before you arrive.
The infrastructure is constantly improving, along with “Central Festival” shopping Center in Chaweng opening its doors in March 2014, the islands first shopping center. Shortly followed by “The Wharf”, which opened December 2014 in Bophut, lining the waters edge, where there will also be a 4 and a 5 star hotel.
In 2020 we changed the name of Overseas Property Portfolio to Samui Property Portfolio.

About Koh Samui Rental Property
Year-on-year, Koh Samui becomes a more and more popular destination for Koh Samui villa rentals as they can be a cheaper option to staying in a hotel, especially if you are a large family or group. Where a 4 star beachfront hotel can be anything from 6,000 THB per night per room, you can get a 3 bed villa with private pool for the same price. Koh Samui is also becoming a popular choice to live here all year round, so as well as holiday rentals, SPP has a portfolio of villas, townhouses and apartments for the long term rental market. Clearly Koh Samui Properties are a sound rental investment.
SPP has a selection of properties for both holidays and the long term rental market on Koh Samui, ranging from studio’s to luxurious and private beach or hillside villas with sea views. The high-end villas are staffed with private chefs and resident maids, enabling you to sit back and enjoy your stay.
The listings advertised on our website are at list price and depending upon your length of stay, whether you are making a last minute booking or looking at coming in low season, there may be special offers available. If you can’t find what you are looking for, let us know and we can source it for you.
About Koh Samui Commercial Property
Only a small percentage of land is built on in Koh Samui, making the island an attractive place to invest and live. Koh Samui land sales range from beachfront to hillside plots with sea views, or flat land with “green” views. Clients buy plots for different reasons, from the construction of a private villa, to small projects and hotels. Some investors buy large plots at a low price e.g 10 rai (16,000sqm), subdivide into smaller plots, complete the infrastructure including utilities and internal roads and then sell on one by one. There are however zoning laws stating what you can build and where.
Buying land on Koh Samui to build a home or as an investment is an alternative to buying a resale property. Why choose land over an existing property? Perhaps you want a particular location; maybe you can’t find the house that matches your requirements? Or is building your own property your life’s dream? There are building and environmental regulations to adhere to and although buying land on Koh Samui is certainly rewarding, it can also have its pitfalls. It is imperative you take legal advice and choose the right builder.
If you are unable to find land on our website that matches your requirements, contact us with your exact criteria and we will source what it is you are specifically looking for.

Built with an official license. 49% owned in a foreign name and 51% owned in a Thai name or a foreigner as a 30 year lease.
How does the Condo/Apartment market differ in Thailand compared with other countries ?
The Koh Samui property market is very different to the rest of Thailand, mainly due to its building regulations, so you won’t see high-rise blocks of condominiums, apartments or hotels. There are only a few condo licenses allocated on Koh Samui, so the majority of the property market consists of villas to suit most budgets and other low level properties, making Koh Samui an attractive place to invest. Many developments are run efficiently with either onsite or third party property management teams, making them good investments with fruitful rental yields.
