5-Bed Beach Villa

Sometimes constraint produces the best architecture. The planning rules on this stretch of Samui's south coast are strict, no building block over 75 sqm, no roof above six metres, everything on a single level, and rather than fight them, the award winning architects behind this estate turned them into its signature: a series of low pavilions drawn from the island's own fishing village vernacular, timber volumes rising over bare concrete bases, scattered across the plot like a private village with the sea in front of it. The practice even selected the art and furniture, so the interior is one coherent piece of design rather than a decade of accumulation. It runs today as an established and successful rental, and it trades quietly: price on application, viewings privately arranged. Beachfront estates of this frontage, on this title, with this pedigree, come to market on Samui about as often as leap years.
